USE YOUR VOICE TO HELP CREATE SAFER SCHOOLS!

Advocating for change is all about using your voice to create impactful change, so the Texas School Safety Center is hosting a photovoice contest – Youth Voices: Preparing Today for a Safer Tomorrow.

Photovoice is a process in which people use photos to capture aspects of their environment and experiences and share them with others. The pictures and captions written by each photographer can be used to shine a light on sensitive topics and create change. The Texas School Safety Center wants to hear from you about your experiences and opinions on how you can help create safer schools!

CONTEST INFO

The contest includes three prompts for each contestant to capture photos for:

  • Prompt 1: What does a safe school look like to you?
  • Prompt 2: What needs to be done to make your school safer?
  • Prompt 3: If given all the resources needed to create a safe school environment, what would these resources look like and what would you do with them?

Staff will review all submissions and identify the top 25 entries from each prompt to be featured in an exhibit at the 2024 Texas School Safety Conference in June. All photos and descriptions submitted will remain anonymous. Submissions selected for the exhibit will show first name, grade, city, and title of artwork.
