School Behavioral Threat Assessment Tabletop Exercise

In-Person Training

The School Behavioral Threat Assessment (SBTA) Tabletop Exercise will enable participants to apply the National Threat Assessment Center’s (NTAC) model, as taught in the state-mandated TxSSC SBTA training, through facilitated, scenario-driven discussion. Working in multidisciplinary teams, participants will analyze evolving information, discuss response options, identify potential gaps, and reinforce best practices that support the safety, security, and well-being of students, staff, and the school community.

This exercise is recommended for current members of a district or campus threat assessment team.

Registration Requirements

  1. Take the “School Behavioral Threat Assessment Training”

    Participants will only be eligible to attend this training after completion of the 7-hour School Behavioral Threat Assessment training offered through the Texas School Safety Center, which introduces necessary key concepts and is a non-negotiable prerequisite for the advanced training.

Please Note: This training is open to public ISDs, open-enrollment charter schools, junior colleges, law enforcement, and state agencies that support Texas schools. Vendors and contractors are not permitted to register for this training.

You must attend the entire training to be eligible to receive 3 hours Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) credit. If a portion of the class is missed, then the entire training must be made up at a later date. Please email txssc_tabletop@txstate.edu if you would like to reschedule.

Participants are responsible for travel/lodging/meal expenses should they attend an in-person training.
