  2009 Texas School-Based Law Enforcement Conference
 

The Texas School-Based Law Enforcement (SBLE) Conference is an exceptional opportunity for school administrators, teachers, parents, and school based law enforcement officers to receive training on best practices in school safety and security. The Center for Safe Communities & Schools has designed this conference to focus on timely and relevant topics including: Emergency Operations Planning, Active Shooter Tactical Response, Homeland Security & Your Campus, Gang Awareness/Intervention, Dating Violence, Incident Command System, and Current Drug Trends.

CSCS will continue conducting the Texas SBLE conference track for higher education law enforcement officers.  A topic of particular interest to line officers at colleges and universities will be available at each breakout session.

2008 Safe School Award
 

The Safe Schools Award is presented to a school district that has demonstrated exceptional safety planning, programs, processes, and improvements in school safety. Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD was announced the winner.

 
2008 Lifetime Achievement Award for Law Enforcement
 

The Lifetime Achievement Award for Law Enforcement is given annually to a person who has demonstrated sustained and outstanding vision, dedication, and commitment to ensure the safety and security of students across Texas.  Chief Eugene A. Lewis, of Alvin ISD Police Department was announced the winner. Check out this article for additional information.

 
2008 Outstanding Service Award
 

The Outstanding Service to Communities and Youth Award is given annually to a person or organization who has demonstrated sustained and outstanding commitment to youth in their community.  The award publicly recognizes the passion, time, and energy devoted to the positive development of youth. This year the award was presented to Lt. Governor David Dewhurst for his dedication and service to ensure the safety and well-being of all Texas school children.
