Texas Teen Tobacco Summit & Comprehensive Tobacco Prevention Conference

Hosted by the Center for Safe Communities and Schools and the Texas Department of State Health Services, will be a premier assembly of tobacco-control professionals, researchers, healthcare providers, community outreach specialists, law enforcement officers, counselors, teachers and youth dedicated to protecting Texas youth from the dangers of tobacco use and helping those who smoke to quit.

Texas School Administrator Safety Conference

The Texas School Administrator Safety (TSAS) Conference is an excellent opportunity for school personnel and administrators to receive training about best practices in school safety and security. Today’s schools are facing more challenges than ever. Administrators are searching for ways to make their schools safer, to combat school violence and bullying, and to understand the requirements for Emergency Operation Plans and Safety and Security Audits. They are also reaching out to the Texas School Safety Center seeking training in best practices for their educators. These administrators are striving to offer their schools the safety learning environment possible.

Texas Safe Schools & Healthy Students Summit

This summit is an important school safety event and features some of the best presenters from around our state and nation. Our target audience includes: school officials; SDFSC staff; school safety staff; nurses; counselors; teachers; school resource officers and school police departments; transportation directors; maintenance directors; regional and community emergency management planners; coordinators and first responders; educational service center staff; community and state agency representatives; and community and regional health and service agency representatives. This summit is hosted by SDFSC Statewide Initiative of the Texas Education Service Centers (ESC's) and the Office of the Attorney General of Texas

The Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program, the pioneer prevention effort founded in Los Angeles in 1983, is going high-tech, interactive, and decision-model-based. Gleaming with the latest in prevention science and teaching techniques, D.A.R.E. is reinventing itself as part of a major national research study that promises to help teachers and administrators cope with ever-evolving federal prevention program requirements and the thorny issues of school violence, budget cuts, and terrorism.
