Crime Prevention Part I

Crime Prevention Part I TCLEOSE # 2101

(Completely Revised Course)

This 40-hour course is recommended for patrol, investigative, and supervisory personnel interested primarily in physical security, security surveys, and home inspections conducted in compliance with Texas' homeowner's insurance premium reduction program.

Graduates meet the training requirement for crime prevention inspector certificate (peace officer) or homeowners insurance inspector certificate (civilian). Topics are history and principles; concepts of security; robbery, shoplifting and internal theft; locks, alarms, safes, lighting; checks and credit cards; neighborhood watch; security surveys, and homeowners insurance inspections.

Crime Prevention Part II & CPTED

Crime Prevention Part II TCLEOSE # 2102

Students who successfully complete CP-Part I, may now take this 40-hour course to enhance their crime prevention skills with topics that include CPTED, crime prevention technologies, gangs and drugs, youth and a myriad of other crime prevention community-based programs, auto theft prevention, public speaking, fraud and con games, CP for Kids, violence in the work place, and sexual assault/harrassment prevention.

In addition to CP-II, participants will also receive 8 hours certification training in CPTED.

Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design TCLEOSE # 2103

(CPTED Revised Course)

This offering is designed for individuals who are not well-schooled in the concepts and techniques of crime prevention and physical security. In addition to the material covered in our CPTED course, instructors take the trainees through the information needed for a basic understanding of crime prevention and physical security.

40-hour SBLE Basic Certification TCLEOSE # 3952

The new School-Based Law Enforcement (SBLE) Officer certification course is ready for 2009 delivery. ICJS has made some changes that will result in a more comprehensive and significant effect and impact during this years training cycle. The course includes: History of SBLE; Juvenile laws and procedures; Family Code: Title I & IV; Alcohol Code; Health and Safety Code including tobacco and drug laws; Education Code Chapter 37 & Sharing of Information (FERPA); Search and Seizure; Juvenile Case Laws; Recent School Case Law; Penal Code; and Code of Criminal Procedure presented by Mr. Dan Tiller. Chemical, Biological and Radiation (CBR) including Terminology/Threats Chemical-Biological & Radiological (CBR), Health & Safety Response Protocols for SBLE First Responders and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) Awareness from Mr. Adam Hamilton, Signature Science. Counter-Terrorism in our Schools and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) for schools from George Little. School Violence (Whats Really Going On) and Bully Prevention from Chief Eugene Lewis, Alvin ISD - PD. Participants will receive an in-depth look at Gangs from John Bowman, Organized Crime Task Force. An in-depth look at Active shooter - mitigating School mass Active Shooter and Introduction to unarmed self-defense "Krav-Maga" from Mr. Hanan Yadin, former Israeli IDF soldier and police intelligence officer. Officer School Staff, Students & Parent Relations from Chief Pat Fuller, Austin ISD PD. Confrontational Management In a School Environment and Hidden (Concealed) Weapons from Mr. Jerry Adams, F.B.I. (RET) - Signature Science. A full week of state-of-the-art, scientific and research-based, best practices from lessons learned, interactive, and realistic training. Participants will receive a significant portion of law designed to help reduce liability risk against their district and law enforcement agency.

New!40 Hr. Basic Police Juvenile Officer Course

(Completely Revised Course)

Designed to prepare investigators with the necessary and effective tools to conduct juvenile investigations, from the initial report to testifying in court, ICJS has offered this state-of-the-art and departmental-required course to new investigators in many statewide law enforcement agencies for over twenty-five years. Areas of instruction include arrest procedures and guidelines, taking statement/confessions, interview and interrogation techniques, computer crimes involving children, investigation of missing and exploited children, recent state and federal court cases, and case preparation.

New! 8 Hr. Juvenile Law for Street Officers

(Completely Revised Course)

This state-of-the-art, researched-based, course provides law enforcement officers, juvenile probation officers, and school officials a clear explanation and interpretation of Texas Juvenile Law statutes. A basic overview of Title III of the Texas Family Code, as well as Texas court cases and Attorney Generals opinions, are also discussed. A must for officers not confident while questioning, arresting, or processing juvenile suspects, this course is available to all law enforcement agencies under special-negotiated contract.

New!Legislative Update

Get updated on the latest legislation! Presented every two years, this seminar informs law enforcement, juvenile probation, school officials, and court personnel of the newest legislative changes. Learn about new or amended legislation to the Texas Penal Code, Education Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, Transportation Code, and Family Code. Attendees will also receive a notebook, which includes significant changes to other codes or state requirements. This course is available to law enforcement agencies and/or Texas Education Agency Regional Service Centers (for School Districts) under special-negotiated contract.

Basic Instructor Course TCLEOSE 40 hour

Improve Your Presentation Skills! Crime prevention practitioners, law enforcement and SBLE officers spend many hours presenting to groups. Improving presentation skills requires practice, practice, practice. The TCLEOSE basic Instructor Course - 40 hour provides participants with fundamental communication skills to address diverse audiences in timed presentations. In addition, participants will gain knowledge of the three learning modalities and how to engage audiences with interactive learning and facilitation skills. Come join your peers to sharpen and improve your skills in a supportive, non-threatening environment, in a course for law enforcement officers taught by law enforcement officers.

OTHER TCLEOSE COURSES:

The Institute for Criminal Justice Studies is now offering to smaller departments and agencies Mobile Training Teams (MTT) that you can contract to come into your local area and provide your officers/deputies with any and all TCLEOSE mandated training courses. Let ICJS help you and your officers meet your training needs. ICJS offers special incentives to any agency will contract and host a local area training. ICJS will come to you saving you cost in sending your officers elsewhere. Your agency saves hotel, travel and per-diem cost for each officer. ICJS accepts contracts starting at a minimum of 20-guaranteed participants. ICJS can set-up, arrange and tailor a three to five day training designed specifically to meet your agencies and officers training needs.

Our mission in part is to provide quality, TCLEOSE certified training to our constituents. We are especially in tune with the needs of smaller agencies that must search for fair-priced training for their employees. Registration fees in addition to travel and per diem are often cost prohibitive. Please call us, because all our courses are available to your department at group rates. We negotiate reasonable fees for customized training for your specific training needs, conducted on-site at your location whether you live in Texas or any other great state.
